Seven Steps Toward Better Searching

  1. AltaVista - Largest search engine on the WWW. Searches the WWW and Usenet.
  2. AltaVista Translation - service available for French, German, Portuguese, Italian and Spanish
  3. Metacrawler - One of the earliest meta-search engines. Supports Boolean searching. User can customize Metacrawler before searching.
  4. Infoseek - Fast and easy to use. Does not allow Boolean searches. Includes reference guides, business news and stock quotes. Users can personalize news searches.
  5. Lycos - Fast and easy. No Boolean. Great for searching for images, sounds and video.
  6. Ask Jeeves - Ask a question and submit. No Boolean necessary.

Time Zones
