           Mr. Bill Parks from UNICEF tried many times to

           log on from Durham in northern England but had

           technical difficulties

Finnish FreeNet but haven't come up with anything yet. Strange that I should

hear it from you before I hear it from the Finnish school authorities

countries?

<lukem> or to fight in wars

<lukem> we have representation in England , and across the world

<Mikael> how does it work?

<lukem> partly through kidlink!!

<Mikael> yes, i see what you mean =)kids aren't forced to work here

<lukem> there was a children's summit not that long ago

<Andrew> kids aren't forced to work here

<lukem> it was in 1989

<lukem> it was held in

<Andrew> we are aloud to work at age 14 you have to get a permitt

<lukem> we can't find out

<Mikael> can you keep the salary for yourself?

<lukem> some kids are FORCED to work

<Andrew> yes you can keep the salary

<lukem> no pay and bad conditions

<Mikael> good

<Andrew> when we work we must work in safe conditions or the employer can be

sued

<Mikael> do children get "childrens many" from the state...  around 700 mark

($140) per  month until the age of 17.

<Mikael> actually it is the parents who get the many..  but many parents give

itto their kids.

<Mikael> many=money..

<lukem> you are lucky we can work

<lukem> but our parents get child benefit

<lukem> it nearly the same

<RobS> what is that?  in taxes?

<NilsS> thats the same

<NilsS> or is it in taxes?

<NilsS> the child benefit .

<Andrew> at this age (14-17) you don't get taxes taken off

<lukem> the child benefit is a payment to our parents

<lukem> each week

get it back

<lukem> we have a certain amount that we dont pay tax on

<lukem> we have txes on lots of things

<Antti> in Finland it's easier to say what we don't have taxes on..

<lukem> there are taxes on cigarettes and alcohol to

<Mikael> We have very high luxury taxes on alcohol and tobacco...  at least

100%I would guess.

<lukem> we have a nation health service (NHS)

<RobS> did we already talk about Clinton's health plan?

<lukem> we get health care free

<lukem> it is payed for by taxes

<kristi> that is what clinton is trying to do

<lukem> but a lot of funding is being withdrawn

<RobS> When I went to the doctor in England I didn't get it free --it was

about20 pounds I think, but I don't pay taxes to England

either soo...

<Antti> there's both private doctor-services and public.

<kristi> do taxes pay for it?

<lukem> some people here have to wait soo long

<lukem> sometimes years

<Antti> for private-services you have to pay *very* much compared to the

public,which you don't have to pay anything for...

<lukem> because the government is closing down

<lukem> our hospitals

<kristi> we heard a smoker was denied services in england and died

<lukem> there is no room for some people

<lukem> thats true

<Antti> well he shouldn't have started smoking.....
