Jeremy's Thoughts on Maryland Geography

Kids,

Jeremy has added some thoughts to what Leslie wrote yesterday. This is great, Jeremy! Well done. How about the others...? We are hoping to hear from Olya (her dad wrote and said she is preparing some text for us), Michael and David soon.

Beth...Your dad said you have been sick! That's no fun... Here are some roses for you to make you feel better:

       @>--;-- @>--;-- @>--;-- @>--;-- @>--;--

    [.................and a hug this big!............................]

Leslie, I see you peeking over the edge of that math book. ;-) How many hours have you spent on homework tonight already?

Megan went out to play at recess today but she promises to report on the news article in today's paper about our unhappy waterman and the proposed new crabbing laws.

Ok, here are Jeremy's thoughts..

Jeremy's reply:

Leslie and Patti,

(Leslie) When you talk about MD is America in Minature because of the fact it consist of all geographical features of the rest of the USA, did you think about deserts? Does Maryland have any deserts? I think that is the right idea but there are a few exeptions. Maryland has one major mountain range , the Appalacians, which extend from Maine, north of Maryland, to South Carolina, South of Maryland. Maryland also has many farmers. These farmers grow: corn, beans, tobacco, peas, and many more......

The Calvert Cliffs help geologist learn more about the ChesapeakeBay because of the following:

1.) Every time there is a major change or error (ie.. dinosaurs) they leave behind a layer of soil...containing fossils, (what the animals were like) foot prints, ( how big they were) and fossilized dung (what the animals ate). Grant it these are some extreme examples and there probaly are no fossils in the Chesapaeke, but it is a basic overview of what each layer has. The Calvert Cliffs is just like a history book to Geoligists.

Jeremy

Nice work, Jeremy! Hmmmm... do you suppose you could write to the folks at Calvert Cliffs and see if they have any printed materials to give to students?

I have made a list of Web resources for Maryland Information.

And... you can do your own searching by using the Webcrawler search engine:

See what you can find out, ok? Good luck!
