Children's author...

Lois Szymanski Visited Delmar Again!

May 25, 2004
During the 2003-2004 school year Mrs. Lois Szymanski agreed to participate for a fifth year in the "Authors in Residence" program at Delmar Elementary School. Six students in Mrs. Weeg's fourth grade computer class wrote stories with the help of their online mentor, Mrs. Szymanski, who has written many children's books. The project was very successful and enjoyed by all. The students were filled with excitement when Mrs. Szymanski wrote and said she was coming to Delmar to meet them and speak to the entire school. Lois brought one of her books for each of her budding authors!

Dear Mrs.Szymanski,

Thank you for coming to see us. Thank you for your book. I was surprised to see you. The book is good so far and I like the book. That might be my favorite book. I was proud to see you. Your books are the best. I just love your books. I wish I can make books like you some day. I am just a beginner.

Your friend,
Zachary

Hi Zachary,

It was wonderful getting to meet you at your school! It was good to finally be able to put a face with your name. I especially enjoyed eating lunch together, and spending time together in the lab. I was really impressed with how good you all do on the computers! When I was in school (a long, long time ago) we didn't even have computers.

Your story of the Thanksgiving Day ghosts was one of the most imaginative stories I have ever read from a student. I do hope you continue to write. I want to see your name on a the cover of a book one day!

Thank you for the wonderful flower you gave me. It is growing beautifully and is about to bloom again!

Enjoy your summer, and keep writing!

Hugs From Your Friend,
Lois Szymanski
