Managing a Shared Set of Palms

Thoughts to consider...

  1. Who will be responsible for the Palms, keyboards, Margi presenter, (IR printer, projector) in the building?
    • This person will see that the Palms are available.
    • This person will see that the Palms are always charged.
  2. Where will the shared set of Palms be stored?
    • There must be enough room for them and their chargers.
    • The space must be secured at night.
    • There must be enough power strips for chargers.
  3. How will teachers sign up to use the shared set of Palms?
    • Sign up book? Where will this be located so that all can access it?
    • Will the school "Palm manager" check the schedule to make sure that Palms are ready for use each day?
    • Will the "Palm manager" make sure that any scheduling conflicts are resolved?
  4. How will Palms, keyboards, Margi presenter, projector be distributed?
    • Baskets, crates and/or carts for transporting the Palms and keyboards are necessary.
    • Will someone (older students? the person who manages the Palms?) deliver the equipment?
    • Will teachers come to the place where Palms are stored and take them to his/her classroom?
    • Make arrangements for containers when delivering Palms to portables... in all weather possibilities.
  5. Managing files on a shared set:
    • Who is responsible for files that are saved on a shared set of Palms?
    • Will each class delete their own files when finished with them?
  6. Managing programs on a shared set:
    • Who is responsible for adding programs to the shared set of Palms and making sure there is room?
  7. Will the school have an account on PAAM?
    • Who will manage the PAAM accounts and make accounts for teachers in the school?
