We Want Peace
Delmar 3rd graders wrote to a teacher in Pakistan after the tragedy in the USA on September 11, 2001.

Dear Mahenaz,mahenaz

It was terrible what happened in New York. I am glad that you prayed for us. I hope we have peace.

Your friend,
William

Dear William,

I was shocked when I heard and then saw on TV what happened in New York. At first I did not believe what I saw, but then I had to and then was very very sad. I am going to have a look at the Peace Project Mrs. Weeg told me about. Lets pray for peace together.

Your friend,
mahenaz

Dear Mahenaz,

Thank you for praying. I want peace too. I wish that it never happened.

Your friend,
Norman

Dear Norman,

Are you working on the Peace Project with Mrs. Weeg? Thats one way to show others that you want peace. I also wish that it had never happened and that nothing like this ever happens again.

take care, your friend,
mahenaz

Dear Mahenaz,

I did not like what happened. I feel bad. I hope this never happens again. I am glad it didn 't happen in Delmar.

Your friend,
George

Dear George,

I agree that what happened was awful. I saw it on TV and though I live far, far away in Pakistan, I feel bad too. I also hope it never happens again, not anywhere in the world. I am glad you are safe. Did you do something special in school today? Take care,

Your friend,
mahenaz

Dear Mahenaz,

Thank you for praying for the U.S.A. I felt sad when I heard that the planes crashed into the buildings. I was sad when I heard about all the people who died.

Your friend,
Stephen

Dear Stephen,

Thank You for writing to me. I was also sad and afraid when I heard that planes crashed into the World Trade Centre and that so many people died. I hope that something like this never happens again. Lets all pray together for USA and the whole world, to bring peace and safety.

Your friend,
mahenaz

Dear Mahenaz,

Thank you for praying for us. When I saw that plane crash I cried and my heart broke. I was very mad. I hope there are no wars. I wish that no one was killed. I want pace too. I hope none of my famiy was killed and none of your family either . Did one person out of your family die?

Your friend,
Chelsea

Dear Chelsea,

I understand that you were sad and also that you were mad at what happened. You know when I first saw it on TV I just could not believe it. When I realised that it was true I also cried. I still cry when I think about it and what might happen. Lets all pray for peace. Are you working on the Peace Project with Mrs. Weeg? Chelsea, thank you for your concern. No, my family is safe and no one I know died in the crash, but I am still very sad for all those who did.

your friend,
mahenaz

Dear Mahenaz,

It makes me feel sad that a lot of people got killed.

Your friend,
David

Dear David,

It makes me sad too when people get killed and it makes me angry too. What do you do when you feel sad? I cry and I also like to talk about it with my friends. Are you going to work on the Peace Project with Mrs. Weeg?

Take Care, your friend,
mahenaz
