Delmar Star Students!

Students in Mrs. Hicks' 5th grade science classes are Delmar's star students! Some would say that they have their heads in the clouds, but we know that they are learning all about constellations. Not only are they learning about constellations, but also they are creating them in PowerPoint presentations.

Dot Bell, a student intern from Salisbury University and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, has been working with Mrs. Hicks and her students as they research information about constellations and then 'create' constellations, star by star, on the screen. Each student selected five constellations from an assigned season for their presentation. The slides include the constellation name, picture, and a brief description based on students' Internet research at the following sites: [Each link will open a new browser.]

  1. The constellations and their stars
  2. The Constellation web page
  3. The Mythology of Constellations

  5. Constellations
  6. Constellations index
Students will make presentations to their classmates. Take a look at two PowerPoint presentations:
  1. Kyle
  2. Shannon.
