Bob Burnett-Kurie Came to Delmar!

Our 5th grade Year Round Education Science class has been studying the weather. Each child recently was asked to choose a project to do concerning weather or weather related topics. As part of that project we asked Mr. Bob Burnett-Kurie, meteorologist of WBOC-TV16, (our CBS affiliate station in Salisbury, Maryland), to come and speak to the children about weather. He brought with him Mr. Rob Eicher, another meteorologist, to the presentation. Mr. Kurie and Mr. Eicher spoke to the students about weather and what determines our weather. They had the students participate in a discussion where some of them actually portrayed the Sun, Earth, and Moon. All the students enjoyed the presentation and now have a better understanding of how weather is predicted.

Picture 1: The kid in the blue (Chris) is the sun. The kid under the atmosphere (blanket) is Mother Earth, is Jebb. The kid in the red is (Maria), is the moon.

Picture 2:(Jebb ,as earth is rotating around the sun.) As the earth is rotating around the sun (Chris), the moon (Maria) is rotating around the earth.

Picture 3: Jebb is rocking, and tilting around the sun (Chris) as moon (Maria) is rotating around the earth.

Picture 4: Mr. Kurie is asking us what else is missing from the picture now.

Billy

In picture one (top left) the boy under the sheet is Mother Earth. Chris the boy in blue is the sun, which is being orbiting by earth ,who is Jebb. Mr. Burnett -Kurie is telling us that the atmosphere represented by a sheet is the most important part of weather. The girl is the moon orbiting around the earth.

Picture Two (Next to one): Bob Burnett - Kurie is telling us the way earth moves. Thus earth (Jebb) makes that movement.

Picture Three (left bottom): Chris is the shining sun (in the middle). The others are doing the same thing. The meteorologist is giving more movements that the earth does.

Picture Four : Mr. Burnett - Kurie is telling us about the moon.

Thank you for your time, Katie

Picture one is showing three students Jebb, Chris and Maria. Jebb is representing the Earth, Chris as the sun and Maria the moon. Chris is standing still acting like a sun shining. The earth is rotating around the sun while the moon is rotating around the earth.

Picture two it takes 1 year for the earth to circle the sun. The sun has to wobble, tilt at a 23.5 degrees angle, and spin. It takes 1 month for moon to go around the earth. The moon just has to spin. No matter were the earth, moon and the sun go, or move the atmosphere is the most important part.

Picture three shows the sun shining with the earth and moon rotating around the earth. The sun is also sending out its rays.

Picture four shows Mr. Bob Kurie talking to the class about atmosphere and how it is important.

Maria

Picture 1: The kid in the blue (Chris) is the sun. The kid in the red (Maria) is the moon, she is circling around the Earth (Jebb) Jebb is tilting, rotating, wobbling, and circling around Chris. The sheet is the atmosphere.

Picture 2: Maria is still circling around Jebb while Jebb is tilting, rotating, wobbling, and circling around Chris.

Picture 3: Mr. Kurie is telling the audience what the students are doing.

Picture 4: Mr. Kurie is asking a question by telling the audience facts about the answer.

Picture number one : The atmosphere is on the earth while the earth is circling the sun. The Moon is circling the Earth.

Picture number two : The Earth is circling the sun, while the moon is circling the Earth.

Picture number three : The Earth is wobbling, turning, and, tilting while circling the Sun.

Picture number four : Mr. Kurie is telling us about objects that help him forecast the weather.

Picture 1 The atmosphere is pressing down on the earth while the Earth Jebb) is circling the sun, and the moon (Maria) is circling the earth.

Picture 2 The sun ( Chris) is giving out rays while the earth is tilted and circling around the sun while the moon is circling the earth.

Picture 3 The sun is still giving out rays while the earth is tilting, wobbling and circling the sun and the moon is still circling earth.

Picture 4 Mr. Kurie is giving us clues about the next object, the moon.

Picture 1 shows Chris acting as the sun. Chris is going to shine . Jebb is acting as the Earth. He is wobbling, spinning ,and revolving. He is also slanted around the sun. Maria, who represensts the moon, is circling around Jebb. Jebb has a sheet over his head which represents the atmosphere.

Picture2 shows Maria, the Moon who is circling around Jebb, the earth. Chris is the sun so he's not moving.

Picture 3 shows Jebb and Maria behind the sun..Chis is the sun

Picture 4 shows Mr. Bob Burnett-Kurie explaining the atmosphere.

Picture 1. Chris is in a blue shirt as the sun. The kid with the cover over him is Jebb. Jebb is acting as Mother Earth. Maria is in red, as the moon. Jebb is going around Chris, spinning, tilting, and wiggling with Maria going around him. The sheet over Jebb is the atmosphere.

Picture 2 & 3 are the same, Maria is going around Jebb while he is going around Chris.

Picture 4 shows Mr. Bob explaining how the atmosphere works. He is explaining how thin the atmosphere is.

Picture 1; shows Kurie puts a sheet over Earth. Maria is circling the Earth (Jebb). Maria is the moon. The sheet is the atmosphere. I am the sun shining . Jebb tilts, wobbles, spins, and turns around me.

Picture 2 ; shows the same thing, but with out the sheet atmosphere ) over Earth.

Picture 3 ; shows Jebb, Maria, and I doing the same thing , but they are behind it is night time for us.

Picture 4 ; shows Kurie telling us about the sun when explosions happens it booms , and lava bursts in air!!

Picture 1:MR. Bob Burnett- Kurie is putting a sheet over { Jebb} who is Mother earth.

Picture 2: Mother Earth is spinning around the sun and the moon is spinning around Earth.

Picture 3: The moon is spinning around {Jebb} and {Jebb} is spinning around {Chris} who is the sun.

Picture 4: Mr. Bob Bernett- Kurie is telling that the Atmosphere was the most important thing in the experiment.

Picture 1; Shows that Bob put a sheet over Earth ( Jebb ). The sheet is the atmosph0ere. The moon is Maria. She is circling around earth. Chris is shining (he is the sun). (The sheet over Jebb's head is the atmosphere. Jebb tilts, wobbles, spin, lean as he circles the sun ( Chris ).

Picture 2; Shows the same thing but, Jebb doesn't have the atmosphere over his head.

Picture 3; Shows the same thing but, at a different angle with the camera.

Picture 4; Shows Bob telling us that the sun would have little booms, that let lava come out of small volcanoes.

Picture number one: The Earth is Jebb and Bob Burnett-Kurie has put a sheet over him as the Earth' s atmosphere while he is circling the sun (Chris) Maria is the moon and the moon is circling the Earth while the Earth is circling the sun.

Picture number two: The Earth (Jebb) is circling the sun (Chris) while it is tilting and wobbling. The moon (Maria) is circling the Earth (Jebb) while the Earth is circling the sun.

Picture number three: The Earth (Jebb) is cirling around the sun (Chris) while the moon (Maria) is circling the Earth.

Picture number four: Bob Burnett-Kurie is telling us about some of the objects that help us forecast the weather.

Picture One is showing that three students are demonstrating how the sun, moon, and the earth revolves around each other and the sheet is the most important part of weather. It is the atmosphere Maria is the moon she is revolving around the earth. Jebb is the earth and is revolving around the sun. The sun is Chris.

Picture Two is showing that the sun is shining. The earth wobbles, tilts, rotates, and revolves to get around the sun. It takes 1year to get around the sun while doing all the actions. While Maria is spinning around Jebb, while he is revolving around the sun.

Picture three shows that the reason that Chris has his arms out is because he is shining his rays. While Jebb and Maria are revolving around each other. It takes 1 month for the moon to revolve around the earth. Maria rev olves around Jebb who is the Earth.

Picture four shows that Bob Burnett Kurie is talking to our class about weather. While he is taking to us and demonstrating how our weather works. He talked us that there is 441 pounds of air pressing down on your head.
